Handling the difficult conversation

It's a delicate dance for high school journalism advisers facing administrators bent on censorship. Frank LoMonte, executive director of the Student Press Law Center, acts out one way to handle that conversation.

His key advice: Frame the discussion as the adviser helping, not arguing legalities with, the administrator. And make sure students know their rights, as it ultimately will be up to the students to defend those rights.
