The presentation by Frank Lamonte was really powerful for me.  There is much I need to do to change some practices we currently have in place.  But what I appreciated most was the candid responses to our questions and the very practical examples he provided.  Particularly helpful was the CC tag to look for when looking to use music, clips, videos, and photos.
He brought further clarity to the idea of what substantial education disruption looks like and the issue of using pictures from facebook.
His quote, "You as a public school teacher have fewer rights than your students," scared me but it also inspires me to put more ownership in the hands of my students when determining what to print and when.

  1. I'm with you, Jen! The illustrations Frank provided were so helpful to take an abstract idea and make it more concrete. I also loved his quote, "When one state catches a cold, the other states start sneezing." I thought it perfectly demonstrated the way that laws can change in multiple states due to a precedent being set in one, and the way that states don't even think about these issues but jump on the bandwagon as soon as one situation arises.

    Great presentation!
