"Democratization of access" argues for social networking

This short clip from Dan Gillmor's session June 22 puts the focus on why we as journalism advisers need to get our readers to come to us. I am currently advising a club putting out a print newspaper, but when we go online we will need to do something about the change that Gillmor explains here. We will need to put out information to cause the readers to come to us. That time is now for many of my colleagues at the Reynolds Institute, so their schools and districts need to hear this message from Gillmor so that they can accept the use of social networking to get the word out.
