Today was another day full of great sessions. I found it particularly helpful to listen to all of the experiences that were shared during Kristin's and Alan's sessions. "Managing Your Boss" I think was very useful for all of us, and I'm grateful for the practical advice that Kristin offered. I think that when we're in a situation where a boss doesn't understand what we do or immediately reacts to something without understanding fully what is going on, we immediately want to go on the defensive and start an argument. But after listening to today's session, I now know that there is a much better way to go about things. You don't have to allow your boss to walk all over you, but you also don't have to jeopardize future relations with a person with whom you'll have to interact professionally for perhaps a very long time.
Alan's ses
sion was also very helpful and actually addressed something that's been on my mind pretty much since the institute began - how can I go home and impart all of this new knowledge to my students? I have a much better idea of how to do that now.
Also just have to mention how much I enjoyed watching everyone's videos tonight! I thought everyone did a wonderful job, and it was lots of fun to see how we all attacked the same
assignment in different ways.
