I have shown the movie All the President's Men before in class but I have never given an introduction as strong as Len Downie Jr. on Tuesday night. I noticed two advisers in our group recording his presentation and I would love to show that before my class views the movie. To hear first-hand what the Watergate reporting was like was both interesting and powerful. It is shocking to hear how journalism can make such a huge impact and I want my students to know that they can make a difference in their reporting. I will be showing this movie in the future with more excitement and will better engage my students in discussions because of what I have learned here.
The follow-up discussion has not happened yet but I am looking forward to it and hope to gather more information and knowledge to share with my students.
