Mandatory Fun Can Be Fun

Going into it, I was amused by the idea of a required outing. I guess our students have this a lot, but I had not been subject to such an injunction in ... I cannot recall how long it might be.  Baseball is not one of my interests, but San Francisco certainly is.

The walk to the park was my first time out, so that was of particular interest to me.  I enjoyed the architectural extravagance of the Convention Center.

Every summer I look forward to the array of County Fairs around me in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma. Maybe I can skip them now that I have already eaten a lot of junk food.  Probably not, since I skipped the caramel apple after grave consideration, opting for ice cream instead. The apple definitely looked delicious.

Even though I am not a baseball fan, I became quite focused on the game. I could hear that a lot of member of the group found the conversation and camaraderie even more compelling than the action (is that the right word in baseball?) on the field.

Though today we are likely to be very tired, it is quite clear that fun can be required.

  1. I know I looked up at the end and was surprised it was over. I had been so distracted by the conversation that I did not really follow the game and I love baseball! I am exhausted today though.
