Leonard Downie Jr.'s speech, before watching All the President's Men, put everything in perspective for the people who had never seen the film.
While I watched the movie, I was looking for "the nerdy character with the glasses," which represented Downie in the film. I was also looking for the office where he worked, which was located far in the back, past all the cubicles. All of the details he explained about where he was at the time, stuck to me as I watched the movie.
Downie made it clear that the movie was an accurate representation of what happened during the "Watergate Scandal." Personally, I like that reassurance because it makes the viewer live the moment as it happened, and experience the stress and fear that the two main reporters felt at the time.
After his speech, this movie was more of a documentary to me than just another misrepresentation of a historical event.
