After yesterday's "shooting video" session by Brian Snyder and today's actual video shoot, I feel more confident in my skills to teach students how to shoot and edit video.
While we don't use Final Cut Pro, we do use iMovie, which will get the job done. While I have always had students use still photos, I now know how to teach students how to shoot video, so they have good raw video, which enables them to edit and produce a solid project.
Even though it was hot outside today, it was so fun (and easy) to get the raw video that I didn't even mind the heat. Well, we were only outside for about 15-20 minutes. But with the proper pre-planning and techniques, we were able to get the video quickly.
In fact, during the additional time, we were able to get most of the article written, as well as 3/4 of the video edited. Score!
That is why I deem today THE MOST PRODUCTIVE day.
On a side note, I wanted to again post how thrilled I am to be here working with top-notch professionals from ASU, news sources, and schools around the US. Each day provides me with such a wealth of knowledge.
Gem of the day: "You have no idea. We are going to be pioneers."
My text to my editor-in-chief in response to his text that he looks forward to hearing about all the wonderful things I'm learning.
