My name is Amber Lineweaver and I will be arriving from the finally sunny California, specifically the San Francisco East Bay Area. I received a BA degree in English from Cal. State Hayward in 1990 and have been teaching high school for about twenty years. I currently teach Junior English, Yearbook, PE and this year was literally 'tricked' into taking over the dying Journalism program a week before school started. After complaining bitterly for a couple of weeks, and grumbling to anyone who would listen about things like seniority and tenure, I settled into my new role as Journalism teacher.
The class consisted of about 10 senior football players, and 10 freshmen girls. You can imagine the interesting dynamic such a combo creates; this year has been interesting, to say the least. However, I've discovered that I actually enjoy teaching Journalism even if I am not yet very good at it. For this reason I applied to the Reynolds Institute. I am completely intimidated by everyone's resume and feel very much out of my league. I hope to gain everything I need from you all to be the best Journalism teacher in California. =)

I look forward to hearing the stories that go with that strange collection of journalists! Also, I wonder how it happened. It just doesn't sound like a natural result.
